Satellite is almost disaster proof, a few weeks ago an airline found out that cables are not.

Except for the potential problem of satellite jamming. The biggest threat for sensitive applications via satellite. Wouldn't terrorists love aviation to be controlled by satellite. Maybe satellite would be good as a backup but hardly an option that the airlines around the world would pay for. You always seem to only tell half a story. I guess the other half is told only to those in the 'loop'.
