Something that I have noticed change since I was younger is the way work is. There are more entrepreneurs now because information is so readily available and barriers to entry are less. There has been some shift away from the traditional 9 to 5. My cousin was saying everyone has a slash in their name now. She called me a trader\gardener. I'm not a professional gardener but have a vegie patch. There are people with proper slashes in their name like a guy I know who is Doctor\Medical Tech company owner.

Watchlists
I've tried so many different ways to track stocks including;
- a spreadsheet with a macro that displayed a chart image of the stock
- a database
- word documents which were like diary entries about the changes of held stocks
- notebooks
- watchlists in charting packages

I always found something not quite right with each of them. With regular watchlists I would forget what I previously thought about stocks because you can't add notes, with the previous office documents they wouldn't allow me to track both notes and charts.

At the moment I'm using a word document with a navigation pane and it's been working pretty well for me.

I haven't been doing it for that long so we'll see how long this lasts. It's amazing though because it helps me remember why I like a stock and I've got potentials ready if capital becomes available. My current holding at the moment is just ARU so some sections need to be updated.

I also have watchlists of some of the stocks from this document. It contains the stocks which I should watch daily, weekly or monthly. Also some other watchlists based on chart patterns.

Does that have three levels like daily weekly monthly price moves on it on it by the looks ?

The phycological part of them i use for motivation Herb . I often make little portfolios of them like five grander theory to see if im getting in the right areas etc Not big on keeping notes as to much is retained in the melon and very well something i should look at is keeping more detailed .

I'm very messy/lazy when it comes to trading notes etc .Have them written everywhere at times .The power though of a list is compelling .I do use the printer at times then also use multiple windows opened to watch pre market and after market action when im on duty .

I do though have a big online diary in the stt knowledge libary .

The last topic of those is in fact the trading diary .

What about the cheque book in the old days and soon to be extinct i read somewhere recently !?

You could write your own money out and pay people . If we didn't have them back then would have made banking even harder and the cashflow around the economy . You could write a lot of money out as well ! As long as you could cover your amount when it was called in by the bank .
