I saw your post during the week about your travels to Turkey and the Adriatic. Istanbul, I could happily spend a month there.. I think 5 days is enough to see the bones of the city and the most popular sights. Favourites for me...The Basilica and Theodosius Cistern, Rustem Pasha mosque in Eminonou, museum of calligraphy, the Roman aquaduct near the Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, The food, the shopping...! On one visit to Istanbul we went for a trip up the Bosphorus. Hopefully you will have time to loose yourself in the alleys in old city and around Suleymaniye mosque.
