    Amongst the teachers I knew:

    - one always left school in time to have a swim at the local school and didn't have the brains to work out that I, as an employee of a coy. in the private sector, never left work until 6.pm minimum, and most times later, so when he rang me, as I was never at home;

    - one talked endless about her next overseas trip, never about the children she taught;

    - one asked me to check a report she had compiled, and it was so bad, I thought it has been prepared by a primary school child;

    - one always complained that she hated teaching, but was reluctant to leave because of all the 'fringe' benefits.

    We don't need more teachers, smaller classes, or higher education expenditure, we need dedicated teachers, and we need them now.
