So much has changed on the economic , employment and social landscape that it is actually difficult to compare and so it is best not to.
Other than that just get out there and give it your best shot and you will find a way to achieve what you want . I believe the trick is setting smaller achievable goals and the size of those achievable goals will get bigger as you progress and bit of luck along way doesn't hurt either .

Please do not tell people that they had it easy because we didn't , it was just different .

You are right about comparing now to then
It is so fraught with complexity, it is best not done.
I think I proved it with my discussion of interest rates and their correlation with inflation.
Jordan Peterson - Compare yourself with who you were 6 months ago - not who someone else is or was......
