The cost of living was a lot higher back then also. A new TV would set you back more than a months wage. Whitegoods cost more then than they do now. Price of food was higher. Anyway - maybe more action less complaining from the younger generation. My 21 y/o son is well on track to buying his first home. It can still be done if you're ambitious - and want it enough.
