bis has delivered 3 orders totaling 750 tons.
The govt can exit the contract but it would cost approx $500m.
The experts i research suggest its worth paying the $500m.
The problem being the only se asia competitive submarine both in performance and price , that is 'off the shelf' ie currently in sea trials is the suffren french nuclear sub.?
All other subs require design changes.
Again the experts that don't have the threat of losing their jobs say we need 6 french nuclear subs (65 crew required) or 4 virginia nuclear subs (167 crew required) plus a couple of conventional subs to have a super fleet in the se asia region.But my guess is forget the conventional subs as drone subs are developed.
