Vanguard are a US company with around 90 staff here in Australia. The have around US$1.3 trillion in managed funds worldwide, which means they could buy CNP 5,127.5 times over.

It looks like JP Morgan are just the custodians of the shares, so I'm not sure we can read too much into their involvement. I would say the ultimate owner is Vanguard, although they do say on their website that they offer wholesale services to clients which means there may be someone else in the wings.

Only time will tell on this one. I promise you, Vanguard's holding has either got much, much larger in the past 2 days or someone else is on-market buying up.
