Malcolm Turnbull at the Australian Press Club has just spilt the beans on the new Sub deal. If what he says is correct its a monumental debacle and we have been basically misled on the deal. He pointed out there has only been a statement of intent. Australia has no contract, no design, no costings. just something that will be talked about in coming months. That is a far cry from all the AUKUS hype. Mr Turnbull pointed out that the reason that Australia contracted with France to buy what were Nuclear powered subs but asked they be converted to diesel because Australia did not have a Civil nuclear industry that could support maintenance of nuclear powered subs.. He made the point that negotiations that led to the French deal occurred well before his time as PM. He says Australia has suffered great reputational loss as a consequence of this AUKUS announcement He says Morrison has not acted in good faith.

Hi @eagle888 It’s about his platform for the coming election. And what chance this is the reason he is trying to back out of attending the Glasgow Climate Change Summit later this year … it clashes with his yet to be announced election timeline. Dex
