Taking the App 4C reports from Dec08 through to Dec09,

Sept Qtr 08
Additional Customers 154
Cost 236k
Cash cost per cust 1532.
Each customer generated $70 cash per qtr, so payback is
1532/70=lots of qtrs.

Sept Qtr 09
Additional Customers 3149
Cost 382k
Cash cost per cust 121.
Although each customer now generates $53 cash per qtr, payback is down to 2.3qtrs - cash positive within the year.

June 09 and Dec 09 basically similar as 3.2 and 3.3 respectively.

This seems IMO to be a sensible basis for investing in growth.
