Assuming that the bulk on the volume is someone accumulating a holding (as suggested), then they must be getting close to the 5% threshold for disclosure.
Volume since Dec 23rd (incl today) = 64 million shares. Remove the average volume of approx $4.5m over 6 trading day of 27m (should be less over this holiday period), leaves 35m shares.
5% of 669m shares is approx 33.5m shares

BTW the reference to Invitrogen has been on the ADO website for at least a year. I did quite a bit of digging to fins some ore link by didn't find my much. Ditto with the partnership with: Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute (POWMRI) (Parkinson's Disease), and also the partnership New Zealand Diagnostics Limited (ovarian cancer research).
