"Just imagine how much the price would go up if someone wanted a 5% stake, for example, and there was only 270 Mil shares on issue!"
My answer would have been - exactly the same. What is the point or have I missed it?
A consolidation doesn't change market cap.
SDL is worth (approx)$1,184 - whether share are worth 50c or $5 - 5% of the company still costs you the same amount.
It just harder for the day traders & scalpers to make the same amount of money on a 5 to 10c price movement AND they will have 10 times less shares to play with.
Companies with deep pockets will still get what they want (at a price they are happy to pay).
We are not big enough to swim against the flow.
I think forget the consolidation until other more important matters are bedded down.
When the market cap ballons ( 5 or 10 times ;)) then look at a consolidation..especially when they are going to pay a dividend...a few years down the track still.
