The announcement on Monday would have restricted the directors from buying any stock as they would have had knowledge of the finance solution proposed.

As for the last 2 days trading I suspect someone's shorts are burning.
If I were to catch the shorters out I would :
1. lend out my shares
2. buy new shares on the market and pump the price up.
3. sell the shares back on the market to the shorts at a premium.

Sometime its not good to be short.
No offence intended to the height challenged...
