croc72, where did you read that the 30,000kT / year ramp up won't happen til next year. Their most recent quarterly is explicit on this front:

"Gulf on track for 30,000tpa vermiculite production by September Quarter 2011."

Granted, there have been relatively few announcements, but this is a small company. It's difficult to imagine they have much to announce. I'd much prefer they spent their time doing operational and strategic work than making me a quick buck.

This company has excellent financial backing (Veritas, AL3), a world class operational mine, another with similar potential in Solara, and a product for which supply is failing to meet global demand. I'm here for the long term.
