Israel’s X handle at it again; fabricates captions to twist Palestinian girl’s testimony on Israeli atrocities in Gaza

A video of a young girl speaking to a journalist in Arabic has gone viral on social media. The subtitles imply that the journalist asks the girl, “What would you like to tell the Palestinian resistance (Hamas)? You are kids and they are killing you and telling the world that you are fighters.”. To this, the young girl apparently says that Hamas militants in Gaza operate from underground tunnels and put civilians’ lives in danger, causing numerous civilian deaths. The video ends with the text “Free Gaza from Hamas” written in bold.

The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Israeli government (@israel), has posted the video with the caption, “This Palestinian child is absolutely right. Hamas intentionally endangers innocent Palestinians in Gaza. #FreeGazaFromHamas”. The bio of the handle says, “The State of Israel’s official Twitter account managed by the @israelMFA’s Digital Diplomacy team”.

What do you say to the Israeli occupation?”, to which the child replied, “The victims are women and small children. Their bodies are still under the rubble. There is no one to pray for them. There are a lot of dead people under the rubble. There is no one to pray for them. There are no ambulances. My colleague came from Nuseirat, and her head is cut off. We have 8000 victims, except the missing and the many injured people.”
