ASADA have an agenda, its really quite simple. They are a government department who monitor and adjudicate on sporting integrity through the elimination of doping in this country. They have power over all sports.
Essendon and its chiefs at the time decided to test those powers of ASADA.
ASADA are not bluffing they are serious and would have gone very stringent legal and ethical scenario's before even giving those show cause notices. They cant issue anything without evidence to proceed with infraction notices. The players are in trouble.
They have those players on toast and my belief is that ASADA know the players were lead up the garden path by Hird and Co and ASADA are using their powers to reduce the penalties as they also know that when Hird gets his day in the dock, they are going to throw the book at him.
Hird will never coach anywhere again and I wonder what the players think of Hird right now.
Jobe will more than likely be stripped of his Brownlow, its a shame but it will happen. The players have some culpability here as well, they all know they are responsible for what goes into their bodies.
A mess that will be over soon for the players but Hird and the AFL will be back and forth in the courts over this for some time I think.
