I cannot agree with you about the UN. It is one of the mainstays for peace in the world. Imagine a world without it. It has no army or defence forces, it must call on it's member states for those armed forces, those states must agree to send them so the states must agree with the objectives, and the UN as a whole must agree. Like all Parliamentary type organizations there are power blocks who also have their agendas who interfere and impose limits on the policies that defence forces can follow. These days an army does not just go in and do a job, it is restrained by political considerations as well. It is easy to criticise but what would you do instead? It is a human organization and liable to all human foibles. All one can do is try to do better.
