It is a bit simplistic to limit the diabetic problem to sugar The problem is carbohydrate balance of which sugar is major contributor and amount of exercise.
With carbohydrates you cant just cut out all carbs as this causes death You are required to strike a correct balance Too many and you have diabetic problems too little and you slip into unconsciousness and die. It is possible to control levels with diet and exercise I have been doing so now for about 18 months however the lazy way is to rely on medication at first metmorphin (Diabex) tablets Eventually ifd\ you rely on tablets they stop being effective and you end up on insulin injections. They have monitored individuals who have taken the diet and exercise control and twenty years later still no relapse.

Tne self administered tests that diabetics do provide a spot test for glucose levels However GPs will test quarterly for HBAC1 Six monthly in those who have good control

A fair bit about Diabeties here at this site

An average blood sugar converter at this site However if using it note that it is not exact but rather and indication
