100% correct BC. Unfortunately although the mills are largely foreign owned the cane is grown by Australian farmers and some help maybe required there to repurpose the cane to ethanol or repurpose the land to hemp and other crops.
A canegrowers rep was on the ABC today shouting down any possibility of a sugar tax but that is only a natural reaction. Anyway sugar will still be used, it is just the fructose portion that will go to industrial purposes.
