It's a wonder what being out of the market does for the head space. A clarity of vision. A strategy starts to evolve.

Sort of like being seventeen again - before it all hits the fan. Ignorant bliss.

Barometer I sometimes let on how the discretionary spending business is going. It might come across as whinging but it aint. It's relevant to sentiment and confidence. I've mentioned that we tumbled every year to half our sales per annum from 2008. This year, we stopped going down. That's good. Taxes and charges are quite crippling however. Certainly inhibit putting new staff on as well as growth.

An elderly lady - 4' 10" - was wondering around in front of our shop. I went out.

'Do you know where No. 46 is young man?' she said meekly.

'I'll take you there', and galantly took her arm and headed down the road.

'It's the only place that still makes rosary beads. Do you know how old I am sweety?' the dear looked up at me with a sunny sparkle in her eyes.

'I'm 98. Too old for a mature lady to be wondering the streets. Looking at you, someone might think I'm after a sugar daddy'.
