Now that the chance of a tie up with a big player and W.A.'s ISP cousins (Amcom & iinet) is looking remote, I believe Amcom would achieve a higher valuation by the market if it could offload its iinet investment for a reasonable price.
My proposal: Amcom & Telecom NZ get together dump their iinet shares into a separate private holding company, square up their ownership 50/50, and then let it be known that the combined stake was up for grabs anytime someone was interested.
Problem: Telstra prefer to strangle rather than acquire, Optus have duplicated DSLAM infrastructure and no one else much has any money, unless a surprise packet like a Pacnet came to play.
OK so there are probably a miliion and one reasons why this will never happen but I have to come up with some speculation to keep the AMM board on HC ticking over.
