With respect mate, you do have to rely on other people for your information - a key is to choose them well.
On HC there are some amazing guys who have done it all and share - see for example @salpetie or @setfire2thehive
You should also go to Conferences - my fave is Noosa Mining Conference - its nearby. Amazing that you can listen to the MDs give their talk, then wander up to them and chat - or just sit down and sip a free coffee and strike up a conversation - lots of guys will chat about big trades, gains and losses too.
Its a tough game - many peeps lose. So take care, and GL.
