If you look at the market trend (events like the covid drop aside) you will see the general upwards trend. That means that as a whole the companies in the market are growing. That won't stop individual stocks going backwards though - ask the shareholders of AGL, for example.
Crypto, I'm not even going to comment on that, the appropriate thread for that is r/redorblack if you ask me.
