Yes you are right about one thing. It is on the politics forum because your mob made political points regarding the fires and the drought. BOTH were out of the politics field as they have both occurred before and will occur again and again. All the politicians can do is react and NOT OVERACT as they are continually pushed to do. The climate change debate IS political.Even my lillipillies became political comment but they were right on the money.
Regarding the Bruce Highway ( I have interests up that way and do use it a lot). I would, too like to see it improved. I also use the highways in Western NSW as well and would also like them to be improved. Would I pay a toll to use it ? Would you pay a toll to use it ? I use the Pacific Highway on a regular basis and am happy that it is on the way towards being flood free and divided. I know which one deserved to be completed first.
In Australia we are not very efficient in road building. The problem starts with the planning, the battle with the tree huggers and the NIMBYs then the work safety and traffic control costs. Adds to the delays and the overall cost. I liked the way I saw the road work carried out in WA. I drove over one long section of road works that were being started and returned three weeks later to drive over a completed bitumen road. They used bigger trucks, multiple graders working one behind the other followed by a team of rollers and there was not a lollipop man (person, sorry) in sight.
