I think we can safely say that today signals the start of the trading year but I also know a few fund managers and brokers in Melbourne who don't start back until next week so let's not get too excited too early. We need the volume to help with trading at the spec end, to avoid getting stuck holding stocks that won't move. There is nothing more annoying than feeling pressured to buy a stock for fear of missing out on its run, to then find that it stops not far from where you bought it and worse still, begins to retreat as suddenly interest turns to the next hot stock. So it's still an important time to look for good fundamentals in all stocks that you invest in, and get them when all your research suggests it shoul lead to an uplift.
