I wrote that Optiblend was a retrofit technology and that the functionality could be incorporated into OEM engine controllers .
I stand by my expressed opinion that migrating the functionality to the main engine control unit would be a better alternative for new vehicles than a standalone or piggy-back methane controller .
For instance on modern electronic controlled automatics , the ECU will cut/reduce the fuel during upshifts to reduce wear on a transmission - or enable a much cheaper underspecified transmission to survive behind a peppy powerplant without prohibitive warranty claims .
I see Optiblend as extending the life of existing equipment like drilling rigs engines etc and delaying the need for reinvestment .
The market seems to be for professional users like stationary engines , bus fleets etc rather than passenger car drivers .
