hi mate, the notes were AT1 (additional tier 1) capital replacing notes due to redeem early next year. the return of capital from the sale of the life business was CET1 (common equity tier 1). in terms of capital management CET1 ranks higher than AT1. the two aren't interchangeable. hope that helps!
