Sundance Resources says board members who died in a plane crash in the Republic of Congo 11 days ago are likely to be returned to Australia by mid-July.

The deceased are currently in the capital Brazzaville.

"The company has continued to work in close co-operation with the Australian Federal Police, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the Congolese authorities to ensure an appropriate and dignified process is followed to effect repatriation in a timely manner," Sundance said in a statement.

"The formal identification process which commenced on Sunday 28 June 2010 has continued over the last few days.

"This work is being carried out by a specialist identification team from the Australian Federal Police.

"At this point in time, it is not known when the formal identification process will be concluded."

The Republic of Congo is planning a small official condolence ceremony in Brazzaville prior to repatriation, Sundance said.

George Jones, Sundance's caretaker chairman, and fellow strategic adviser Michael Blakiston will attend the condolence ceremony and escort the deceased back to Australia.

A public memorial for the West Australia-based executives including former chairman Geoff Wedlock will be held in Perth late next week.

The memorial is being organised by the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies with support from member companies, including Sundance.
