The project was dead before GC entered the scene.
You seem to think it's all GC's fault, and that if only he tried harder he'd have been able to come up with the required finance.
As I stated to westcott ad nauseum many years ago, SDL and it's management could not force others to finance the project. There's simply no leverage there.
Once finance became a China or bust scenario, it was always going to be bust. Why would the Chinese finance the operation when they could wait SDL out and have the tenements removed? Think it through.
