Sunshine Gas cores 26m of gassy coal at Cullin-3 well 09:37, Monday, 20 September 2004
Sydney - Monday - September 20: (RWE Australian Business News) - Sunshine Gas Ltd today said its wholly-owned Cullin-3 well in ATP 693P was a successful appraisal of the Cullin coal seam gas field.
The well intersected about 26 metres of gassy coal, including a single coal seam of 11 metres.
Directors consider the results of the well to be "extremely encouraging".
Preliminary field analysis of the coal gas indicates it largely comprises methane.
Further gas content work will be carried out on the cores taken and testing is planned in the near future.
The rig has been released after the completion of wireline logging at a total depth of 474 metres.
The rig will now be moved to a second Cullin appraisal well location with Cullin-2 expected to spud later in the week.
Cullin-3 was the fourth well of a six-well program in the Northern Bowen Basin for Sunshine Gas.
Shares in Sunshine Gas rose 1c to 41.5c on Friday.
