Tony, I replayed the FNN Woolf interview on 13 March 2012. Woolf indeed commented in relation to the collaboration with MedImmune, that Phylogica is "very close to completing that in terms of research work".
We know that 'very close' could be next week or if the negotiations become more protracted, 'very close' could mean within the calendar year. The point which you have made, however, is that the antibiotic discovery space is becoming hot property. I'm inclined to think that 'very close' is sooner than we might expect. One could reasonably speculate that MedImmune would prefer to enter into an expansive collaboration and deny other Big Pharma the opportunity to advance phylomer peptides in what is a billion dollar market for novel antibiotics.
