I researched Netwealth prior to starting my SMSF, and seriously considered going with them as an alternative to a SMSF. They allow you to invest in any shares, no restrictions, so that appealed immensely to me, however, they are expensive, and also you can't use your own trading platform. They charge more for trades, you have to use their brokers (you have a choice of 3, I believe, and they aren't cheap, nor instant trades, you have to fill out a form) and, from memory, it would have cost me close to $4000 per year to park my funds with them. Of course, check them out, do the maths. A SMSF was going to be cheaper and more user-friendly than Netwealth for me.
