Unfortunately Companies can sustain "losses" longer than a Government can serve a Term. But Govnuts around the World are introducing Super Tax's, so their must be some merit in it. The problem to me is the way its been presented. If you have a sliding scale of Tax Levels whats wrong with introducing a new level for all Companies. Surely Apple should pay along with Woodside if profits are over a certain level. Why restrict it to miners?
What is more important is this new level should be designed to stop "gorging" of Customers, which the ACCC is supposed to administer. This level would take the politics away from ACCC decisions.

The Australian Consumer Law protects consumers from certain unfair behaviour by businesses.
Unfair practices relate to things like:
how businesses promote, sell and deliver products and services
what terms they use in contracts
how businesses take payment from consumers.
If a business behaves very harshly, especially towards people experiencing vulnerability, a court may consider it unconscionable conduct and impose severe penalties.
