    I have not read the full thread on this topic, but agree no one knows if this is "the bottom or the top" but technically you can tell if its a pivot top or bottom.
    My super has been in cash since Oct07 and I did see the pivot "LOW POINT" on 9th March but was to consumed with negative reports to re-enter. So am still sitting in cash.
    A better option would have been fixed interest with some funds generating approx 13% yearly as apposed to 7% in cash.
    I use a geared Aussie fund which is high risk high return ... so picking pivot points is a necessity.
    To pick pivot points I focus on long and short term trendlines on price and momentum plus I use the spread between the fast / slow lines on the MACD as a trigger.
    Look back over several years and you will learn how to pick pivot points......using the above indicators. This method sometimes gets you out a bit early but you can always get backin after a slight pull back.
