I thought I would make one last post on this thread with some data, despite data and information playing very little role in thinking these days.

Re super, around one million Australians have a SMSF which if well run, should be delivering them significant benefits through tax advantages and inter-generational wealth transfer. Most of these people are wealthier Australians; the group that benefits most from our super scam. The lower paid Australians do not have the discretionary income to take advantage of the very generous taxation benefits of our super scheme. When they retire, they rely on the Government Aged pension which is funded by, can you believe it, tax. If they are renting, many will be living below the poverty line.

Returning to tax, I hate paying tax only to see it being wasted at the macro level. A great example is AUKUS where we are giving our money to the USA for nothing. However onto some data. Our personal income tax is not dissimilar to the USA, not that that is anything to aspire to but is an interesting comparison. On a broader comparison it is at the upper end of the OECD countries. Another measure is the ratio of tax:GDP where we sit below the OECD average.

Finally, if we have no super and no tax, where does that leave the people who do some of the poorest paid but very important jobs, when they can no longer work. Perhaps you could let us know what your vision is. None of our leaders seem to have one.

    Cheers
    Stephen
