Smsf's certainly don't pay tax on unrealised gains, but I didn't realise the commercial funds did! Another reason to be smsf'd - at the moment. And if the world's greatest treasurer does start taxing smsfs on unrealised gains, all the more justification for me keeping as little in super as possible.

Although taxing unrealised gains in smsfs would only be the thin end of the wedge to doing the same for personal taxation - some form of annual wealth tax.
