    Tanon, Snap! Mine was 15.4% I am also consistently near the top - although during the GFC I lost more than most funds as I was o/s for an extended period and distracted.

    One of the issues is how you calculate growth and return. Strictly speaking, it should be done as a full IRR calculation, but that requires a fair bit of work to enter all incomings and outgoings in one place.

    Instead, I use the "Approximate method" which takes into account contributions made. This changes a normal "change in value return" calculation that ignores contributions (and therefore not a measure of true return), viz:

    [[(End portfolio value)/Start portfolio value)]-1] x 100 = Return%

    To one that is a good approximation to an IRR calculation for short periods (1 year):

    [[(End value - 0.5 x additions)/(Start value + 0.5 x additions)] -1] x 100 = Return%
