    I would take the whole lot of the data with a grain of salt.

    Don't forget they don't differentiate between the options available for contributors that lies somewhere between low to no risk and high risk options. Maybe this year they were lucky, I do recall one year in not the distant past where most funds were lucky to break even and I still made 5%.

    I didn't make anywhere near that amount in my SMSF, why? Because I'm in the latter stages of life and cannot afford another GFC event so my investments are either very low risk or passive.

    But I'm not complaining because I don't need a high risk portfolio so I wouldn't bother trying to compare my returns to industrial or private type funds.
