The argument against waiting too long to strike a deal is that as time goes on, the money starts to dwindle and the costs start to increase. There's also a risk of things going wrong (delays, competing drugs, whatever). Then power shifts to big pharma. At this point in time, Avexa has the power (at least some if it) and none of the problems, and big pharma know that Avexa has some time on its hands to make a decision about who to deal with. The money they have in the bank now gives them security, but that will go and so will the security. Best to wring the best deal out of prospective partners now. 'A bird in the hand...' argument I guess.
