so I'm used to the greeting "How are you?" at the checkout, nothing wrong with that, polite friendly. Ok.
but now I'm getting the follow up question "How's your day been?" a bit confusing because I've already said I'm doing Ok to the first question, so what level of detail are they expecting for the second question? Does the young girl really want to know the vagaries associated with grumpy people a lot older than her? I doubt it. So the 'how's your day been' thing seems a little disingenuous to me. And thus I can't wait for the next question in the progression, maybe something along the lines of: "And have you been regular?".... gimme a break.
