In combining these two subjects it's pretty important to understand where we may be heading with very recent comments about pharmaceutical shortages and war comments .
For a long time we have been happy to outsource manufacturing mostly to the cheapest overseas mfr. and often with little cost saving to consumers .
What happens if we go to war and our main manufacturer stops producing washing machines , t. v's , cars , fridges etc ? We have left ourselves extremely dependent on suppliers from overseas that you cannot rely upon , particularly if you are in conflict with them !
We are right now finding out how many pharmaceutical shortages there are and once again we leave ourselves open to the whims and capacity of overseas suppliers .
In my view it's well and truely time for Australia to wise up and cease leaving ourselves and country dependent on overseas suppliers of vital items .
Also when you or the world for that matter become dependent on perhaps one provider or supplier you are a sitting duck if a relationship sours.
Always protect your back .
