Are they really idiots or do they just need a house to live in close to a job to survive in a market where there's a lack of rentals?

There's plenty of supply.... yeah sure, if you want to live in the middle of nowhere with no nearby infrastructure, jobs, schools, shops, transport, hospitals.
Evidence of town planning and population growth going horribly wrong coupled with the fact of negative gearing adding heat to barbie over many years and this is what you get folks.
The real idiots are sitting in Canberra and the state parliament I reckon.
