Although it has long been known that the HED-CSEM method is very sensitive to thin resistive layers (Constable et al.,1986; Chave et al., 1991), it was not until exploration moved into water depths of 1000 m and more that the CSEM became useful, since geological targets need to be electromagnetically closer to the seafloor than the sea surface."
