well, another way of controlling inflation (quantity of money in the system) would also be if the US FED compels the primary dealers to buy back all the toxic assets that were sold to the FED under all the QE programs

this would then oblige the banks/institutions to give back monies to the US FED so that those monies will go to 'money heaven'

if this were to actually happen, gold will go back to 500 bucks an ounce or even lower, dow would be half of where it is now, house prices would probably be 1/3rd or where they are now, etc etc

thus the real question would be : when will the FED sell back all those MBS to the people who sold them to the FED under all the QE programs?
