You try manufacturing anything competitively in Australia. Virtually impossible compared to Asia, Europe and the Americas. Getting product to those markets from Aus costs a bomb.
A small economy like Aus doesn't have the scale to compete. Then add in transport and it's all over unless your product is impossible to replicate anywhere, like our iron ore.....
