In the context of my post and selection of political positions, I am not debating how the merit was achieved and agree it does come easier depending on where you were born due to education opportunities.
What I am posting is when you have two candidates for one position, then selection should be based on merit (regardless of how they achieved it, race, sex, club membership, wealth, party affiliation etc etc, or any other attribute).
Quite simply, the best person for the job.
