Fwiw, I remain convinced that Australian manufacturing malaise is not so much party political than directly related to:

1) Australia being a fast approaching post industrial economy,
2) blow back from being a willing participant and beneficiary of globalisation and
3) our population being unconsciously selfish (in terms of future generations) in their consumption of excessive consumer produce (resources, energy).
