Your are correct, the initial indication CVac is aiming to be approved for is as an adjunct to optimal de-bulking and chemo.
However more cancer vaccines (like Gardasil) will be targeting healthy populations before they are affected by cancer.
As we understand more of the biological and environmental triggers of cancers, we can start our fight earlier in the disease. Ideally before abnormal cells begin to form.
I'm not suggesting the CVac will be used as a prophylactic vaccine, but immunogenic technologies like CVac should eventually get there.
Provided the treatment has acceptably low toxicity, this sidesteps the need to deny patients chemo because they wouldn't ever need it (hopefully).
