Like you, darryle, I recall the Whitlam era. I'd hoped to never see another socialist government again. Hawke and Keating had the right idea governing for the centre. Commentators warned us in 2010 that Gillard's past was of the extreme socialist left and that she was unlikely to ever change her spots. Swan has always been of the left. Conroy is part of Labor's Right faction, yet he is championing these Orwellian laws - what does that tell us about Labor circa 2013?
The one positive out of this is that another generation have experienced an out of control socialist government in Canberra. The smart ones will learn from the experience and vow to never let it happen again.
