hmmmm..."chatting on the net"..."swapping information"

So what was his nic?

"swapping information"

swapping what information and with whom?

did he have knowledge of price sensitive information and was this info "swapped"....and for what?

was he present at important meetings that would have provided such information?

if so was this information "swapped"
